Some of the best Dota 2 cosplayers were on show at The International 9, leaving onlookers absolute spellbound by their amazing looks.

The showpiece event of the competitive Dota 2 calendar, The International, is quickly drawing to a close after months of anticipation. The final three teams have been set, with reigning champions OG going back to the grand finals. They could very well meet PSG.LGD in a rematch of TI8’s epic conclusion but before all that gets underway, fans have had their chance to be a part of the spectacle.

The cosplay contests at Dota tournaments are always full of high-level looks, and just like the professional players, it’s at The International where the best of the best shine. That’s been no different at TI9 which stunning costumes for Mirana, Earthshaker, and Treant leading the way.

The International 9 has already proven to be one of the most competitive TI’s yet.

Prior to Team Secret’s match with ViCi Gaming, fans who entered the competition were taken on to the stage to show off their incredible looks in front of the world.

Some of the most interesting were placed together in a line – including a fully-fledged Shadow Fiend that looked as if it was a robot, a Tinker with a working backlight and detailed shoulder pads, as well as an Earthshaker with a full floor pad to give off the illusion that they had just destroyed the earth.

Yet, despite all the incredible looks, one stood out in particular as cosplayer ‘Becky’ showed off her incredible Mirana look – including a replica of her Sagan mount to ride upon.

The cosplay drew compliments from the analyst’s desk, with one caster calling out: “Shoot me, please,” to the amusement of everyone – including Twitch chat, which immediately broke out into some classic spam.

However, the grand prize of $3,000 for the best in show costume went to Redemption Props’ Treant with a Protector skin.

The incredible craftsmanship even left the analysts desk wondering just how they had managed to pull off such a jaw-dropping display – but it seemed a worthy winner.

Thanks to the efforts of The International 9 participants, the bar for cosplayers has been set at such a high level that they’re going to need to pull out all the stops at The International 10 to become a worthy winner.
